AOFFA Member Criteria
The farm…
1. Is located in Alabama and operated by the owner as a full-time career for their livelihood
2. Follows organic growing practices:
a. Generally follows National Organic Practices; specifically does not use synthetic
fertilizers, herbicides, pesticides, or potting mixes
b. Plants cover crops continuously as a means of conserving and improving soil quality
c. Rotates crops as a fundamental step of crop disease management
d. Never uses treated or GMO seeds
3. Only sells what is grown on their farm
4. 75% of sales must be fresh produce
5. Viability is dependent on the farm being managed to sustain a profit, albeit meager at times
6. Crops are grown in soil
